NHL: Atlanta 6, N.Y. Rangers 4

NEW YORK, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Niclas Bergfors started a streak of three unanswered Atlanta goals late in the second period Wednesday, leading the Thrashers past the New York Rangers 6-4.

Atlanta ended a three-game losing streak and also halted a three-game winning streak by the Rangers.

It was a 2-2 contest when Bergfors scored his first goal of the season with 3:53 to go in the second. Eric Boulton and Dustin Byfuglien then produced goals early in the third to give the Thrashers a 5-2 advantage.

Todd White and Brian Boyle brought the Rangers within one midway through the third and it stayed that way until Andrew Ladd scored into an empty net with 24 seconds to play.

Chris Mason stopped 24-of-28 shots to get the win. Five of the Atlanta goals were allowed by Martin Biron on 25 shots.

Evander Kane scored his sixth of the season for the Thrashers midway through the second to give Atlanta a 2-1 lead.
