Injury derails 'Pacman' Jones comeback

CINCINNATI, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- The comeback of cornerback and kick returner Adam "Pacman" Jones has been derailed by a herniated disc, the Cincinnati Bengals said Tuesday.

Jones, who was suspended for a year by the NFL in 2007 after numerous run-ins with the law, signed a 2-year deal with the Bengals this season in a comeback bid. The team said he suffered a season-ending neck injury in Sunday's 39-32 loss in Atlanta.

The team's Web site reported that Jones apparently was hurt after he fielded a punt and took a hit in the shoulder and neck area while he was on the ground. He stayed in the game and later forced a fumble by the Falcons' Roddy White and returned it 59 yards for a third-quarter touchdown.

Bengals.com said Jones, 27, would likely opt for surgery and look to play next season in the second year of the contract he signed in May.
