Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

NEW YORK, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- New York Yankees pitching coach Dave Eiland won't be back in 2011, the team announced Monday.
Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman said Eiland, the team's pitching coach since 2008, isn't returning due to "private" reasons.
The coach took a leave of absence from the team in June for a family matter.
His departure is what will likely be the first in a series of moves by New York in the wake of its elimination by the Texas Rangers in the American League Championship Series.
Eiland, a former Yankees pitching prospect, presided over a staff that had an earned run average of 4.02 during the season. New York pitchers were lit up by the Rangers for 38 runs and a .304 batting average in the six game ALCS.
