ST. LOUIS, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson had surgery on his left ring finger Monday, the team announced.

Head Coach Steve Spagnuolo said he wasn't sure whether Jackson would be ready to play in the team's next game against Carolina.

Jackson hurt his finger during Sunday's 18-17 loss at Tampa Bay. Spagnuolo said only that the finger was fractured and he didn't know when the injury occurred.

Jackson ran for 110 yards on 22 carries in the setback, passing NFL Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson as the top rusher on the Rams' all-time list with 7,245 yards.

St. Louis also lost starting left cornerback Ron Bartell to an injury in the game. He suffered a quad contusion and is not expected to play in Sunday's game.
