EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Minnesota quarterback Brett Favre has two small fractures in his left ankle and may not be able to practice this week, Vikings Coach Brad Childress said Monday.

Favre was injured Sunday in the Vikings' 28-24 loss at Green Bay. He completed 16-of-29 passes for 212 yards and a touchdown but was also intercepted three times. The injury -- on the same ankle Favre had surgery on this spring -- is believed to have occurred on the play during which he threw his first interception.

Childress said Favre was in a walking cast and doesn't need surgery for the current problem. He said Favre's ability for practices was unknown.

Minnesota plays at New England Sunday. Favre has made an NFL record 291 consecutive starts.

Childress didn't say Favre was definitely out for Sunday's game but how much he can practice would be a consideration for the game. Tavaris Jackson is second on the Minnesota depth chart at quarterback.
