Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Mike Richards and Ville Leino each scored first-period goals and the Philadelphia Flyers went on to best Toronto 5-2 Saturday.
Richards added two assists and Blair Betts, Scott Hartnell and Danny Briere each had a goal for the Flyers, who skated to an easy win and broke a three-game losing streak.
The Maple Leafs displayed little offensive spark and Brian Boucher needed to make only 12 saves for the win.
Phil Kessel and Clarke MacArthur scored for Toronto, which lost for the third straight game.
Leafs netminder Jean-Sebastien Giguere let in all five goals on 40 shots.
