Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
WASHINGTON, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Dwayne De Rosario notched a pair of second-half goals Saturday and Toronto FC logged a 3-2 victory over D.C. United in the season finales for both clubs.
Despite the win for Toronto (9-13-8), the highlight of the game was Jaime Moreno's 133rd and final career goal for United. Moreno, playing in his last game before retirement, exited the year's last game as Major League Soccer's all-time leading scorer.
Moreno helped D.C. United (6-20-4) win four titles and has played in MLS since its first season in 1996. He entered this year's finale tied with FC Dallas' Jeff Cunningham as the league's all-time scoring leader.
He got the title by breaking a 1-1 tie on a penalty kick.
Rosario, however, responded with two goals in a 20-minute stretch after halftime for Toronto.
D.C. (6-20-4) ended the regular season with the worst record in club history and with the worst mark in the MLS.
