Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

ATLANTA, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Right wing Nigel Dawes was sent to the minors Friday by the Atlanta Thrashers, his fourth NHL team.
The Thrashers said Dawes was assigned to the Chicago Wolves, Atlanta's affiliate in the American Hockey League.
The 25-year-old Dawes scored the game-winning goal in a 5-4 Atlanta shootout win over Anaheim a week ago, but he did not have a point in regulation time during six games this season.
Dawes, who has also been with the New York Rangers, Phoenix Coyotes and Calgary Flames, has 39 goals and 44 assists in 205 NHL games.
