Diyas was able to finish all off five break points she had against Jankovic and won nearly two-thirds of the points in the match. She did drop serve once, which accounted for the bulk of the 10 points she lost on serve against Jankovic.

Diyas advances to the quarterfinals against sixth-seeded Maria Kirilenko, who was even more dominant in ripping by Kateryna Bondarenko 6-0, 6-0 in 50 minutes. Kirilenko claimed 77 percent of the points in the match.

Anna Chakvetadze matched Diyas's score with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Mariya Koryttseva. She had five serve breaks in 10 games.

In the day's longest match -- and it was only 78 minutes -- Vera Dushevina took out Elena Vesnina 6-4, 6-2 on the strength of six service breaks.

In addition to the Diyas-Kirilenko pairing Friday, the tournament quarterfinals have Chakvetadze meeting Dushevina, eighth-seeded Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez going against Dominika Cibulkova and No. 2-seeded Victoria Azarenka playing seventh-seeded Alisa Kleybanova.
