Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 21 (UPI) -- Chris Wondolowski produced a second-half hat trick Wednesday, carrying San Jose to a 3-0 victory over Chivas USA.
Wondolowski's goals came in the 55th, 59th and 72nd minutes, running his season total to 17. That ties him with Edson Buddle of Los Angeles for the MLS scoring lead.
San Jose (13-9-7), which had already clinched a post-season berth, moved a point in front of Colorado for the seventh spot among the eight teams that will compete in the playoffs. San Jose had lost its previous two home games.
Chivas USA fell to 8-17-4.
