SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Dustin Byfuglien and Evander Kane scored third-period goals Saturday and the Atlanta Thrashers upended San Jose 4-2.
Byfuglien scored his first goal for Atlanta since being obtained in the off-season from the Chicago Blackhawks, a power-play goal that broke a 2-2 tie with 6 minutes to go in the game.
Kane added an insurance tally 2 minutes later.
After spotting San Jose a 2-0 lead in the first period, the Thrashers got a shorthanded goal from Andrew Ladd another score from Anthony Stewart to even things up.
Chris Mason was busy in nets, turning aside 37-of-39 shots for Atlanta.
Dany Heatley got his 300th career goal and Ryan Clowe added a score for the Sharks.
Antti Niemi stopped 24-of-28 in goal in the setback.
