SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Alex Smith found Michael Crabtree and Vernon Davis for second-half TD passes Sunday, lifting the San Francisco 49ers to a 17-9 victory over Oakland.
San Francisco (1-5) trailed 6-3 at the half but Smith connected with Crabtree for a 32-yard scoring strike at the end of the third quarter to put the 49ers in front for good.
After Sebastian Janikowski drew the Raiders to within 10-9 on a 40-yard field goal with 8:21 left in the game, Frank Gore ripped off a 64-yard run on the next play from scrimmage and Smith found Davis on a 17-yard scoring strike to ice the 49ers' win.
Smith finished 16-of-33 passing and Gore carried 25 times for 149 yards to give the 49ers their first win of the year.
Jason Campbell filled in for the injured Bruce Gradkowski and completed just 8-of-21 passes for 83 yards for the Raiders (2-4).
