COL FB: Hawaii 27, Nevada 21

HONOLULU, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Bryant Moniz threw three touchdown passes Saturday and Hawaii went on to upset No. 21 Nevada 27-21.

Moniz hooked up with Kealoha Pilares on scoring strikes of 6 and 16 yards in the first quarter, and then completed an 11-yard TD toss to Royce Pollard in the fourth quarter.

Scott Enos booted field goals from 24 and 31 yards to account for the rest of Hawaii's points.

Nevada's offense came alive in the second half with Colin Kaepernick rushing 1 yard for one touchdown and then throwing 18 yards Vai Taua for a second and 10 yards to Mike Ball for a third.

The Wolfpack's rally, however, fell short.

Moniz finished 26-of-36 passing for 287 yards for the Warriors (5-2, 3-0 WAC) with no interceptions, while Kaepernick was 14-of-26 for 159 yards but also had two interceptions and fumbled the ball away in the end zone in the third quarter.

Greg Salas picked up 153 yards on 11 catches for Hawaii.

Vai Taua rushed 24 times for 91 yards for Nevada (6-1, 1-1.
