MONTREAL, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- Ryan Malone scored with 51 seconds remaining in overtime Wednesday, completing a game-long comeback and giving the Tampa Bay Lightning a 4-3 win over Montreal.
Tampa Bay has played just two games this season and has won them both. The Lightning rallied twice to spoil Montreal's home opener, firing 47 shots at Canadiens goaltender Carey Price.
Montreal scored the only two goals of the first period Wednesday, but Brett Clark brought the Lightning within one early in the second and Martin St. Louis tied it midway through the third.
Andrei Kostitsyn put Montreal back in front just 31 seconds after the goal by St. Louis, but Steven Stamkos tied it at 3-3 on the power play with only 1:19 left in the third.
Stamkos scored twice in Tampa Bay's season-opening win over Atlanta.
Mike Smith made 24 saves to get the win. He has given up three goals in each of his first two starts, but picked up the victory in both of them.
