CHICAGO, Oct. 12 (UPI) -- NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said Tuesday the league has no timetable in its "sexting" probe of Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre.

Goodell, speaking with reporters after a league meeting in Chicago, said he didn't know how long it will take to look into allegations that Favre sent sexually explicit photos and text messages to a female employee of the New York Jets, Pro Football Weekly reported.

"Our staff has been working aggressively on this, trying to gather data," Goodell said. "Then we'll make some determinations. I'd be hesitant to say any timing until I had a chance to understand it and make sure we can get all the information."

Goodell said he had no plans to meet with Favre but indicated he would do so if it were needed as part of the investigation.

The NFL is trying to determine whether Favre violated its personal conduct policy. If he is found to have done so, the 41-year-old NFL great could face a suspension.
