NEW YORK, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- Pitcher A.J. Burnett, who has been in the New York Yankees' doghouse, is back on the team's post-season roster, General Manager Brian Cashman said Monday.
Burnett struggled at the end of the regular season and was left off the Yankees' roster for their American League Division Series against Minnesota. The team went instead with a three-man rotation.
Cashman told reporters that won't be the case in the upcoming AL Championship series, in which the Yanks will face either Tampa Bay or Texas after sweeping the Twins in three games.
The Rays and the Rangers meet Tuesday in Tampa for Game 5 of their divisional series, which is tied at two wins apiece.
"Our fans need to be prepared for a four-man rotation and that probably includes A.J. Burnett, and we will be confident when he takes that mound with our team if that's the case," Cashman said.
Major League Baseball eliminated some of the off-days in the post-season this year, making it less feasible to go through the playoffs with only three starters.
