MIAMI, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Christian Ponder's two touchdown passes Saturday paced No. 24 Florida State's 45-17 rout of No. 14 Miami-Florida.
Jermaine Thomas rushed for two touchdowns and caught a pass for another to help the Seminoles (5-1, 3-0 ACC) pound Miami in an ACC showdown.
Ponder finished with 176 yards on 12-of-21 passing.
Thomas gained 78 yards on 16 carries and Chris Thompson ran for 158 yards and a score on 14 carries for FSU, which won its fourth straight game after opening the season with a loss.
The game marked the first FSU-Miami meeting in 35 years without Bobby Bowden coaching on the Seminoles sidelines. Instead, it was first-year Coach Jimbo Fisher who guided the victory.
The Hurricanes (3-2, 1-1) were led by Jacory Harris, who went 19-of-47 passing for 225 yards and an interception. Harris also ran for 31 yards and a score on six carries.
