TORONTO, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- The Toronto Maple Leafs, led by first-period goals by Nikolai Kulemin and Phil Kessel, bounced Ottawa 5-1 Saturday.

Kessel, Kris Versteeg and Clarke MacArthur each ended with a goal and an assist to boost their Maple Leafs to their second straight win to start the season -- the first time that's happened since 1999-2000.

Tim Brent also scored and Jean-Sebastien Giguere delivered a 17-save performance in net for the Leafs.

The Senators got their lone goal from Jason Spezza.

Pascal Leclaire had a rough night in goal for Ottawa, allowing all five goals on 38 shots.
