PRATTVILLE, Ala., Oct. 9 (UPI) -- Cristie Kerr got closer to her third win of the season Saturday, claiming a 3-stroke lead after three rounds of the Navistar LPGA Classic.
Kerr shot her second straight round of 5-under 67, finishing 54 holes at 17-under-par 199 -- a new tournament record low, besting Lorena Ochoa's old mark of 200, which was set last year.
After sharing the second-round lead with Na Yeon Choi and Mika Miyazato, Kerr got hot on the front nine with six birdies. She could have posted a 4-stroke advantage but stumbled to a bogey on the final hole.
Choi shot 2-under 70 to forge a second-place tie with Katherine Hull (67) at 14-under 202.
Knotted in fourth place one shot further back were Se Ri Pak, Haeji Kang and Hee Young Park (all with 67s) and Miyazato (71).
