COL FB: South Carolina 35, Alabama 21

COLUMBIA, S.C., Oct. 9 (UPI) -- Stephen Garcia found Alshon Jeffery on a pair of touchdown passes Saturday and No. 20 South Carolina shocked top-ranked Alabama 35-21.

Garcia fired three first-half TDs and went a perfect 9-of-9 through the first 30 minutes to forge a 21-9 halftime lead. The Gamecocks (4-1, 2-1 SEC) went on from there to post their first-ever win over a No. 1 team.

Jeffery hauled down seven passes for 127 yards. He made a sensational one-handed grab for 45 yards in the fourth quarter to set up a game-icing South Carolina score.

Garcia finished the day 17-of-20 for 201 yards through the air while Marcus Lattimore rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns in the Gamecocks' upset win.

Heisman Trophy running back Mark Ingram was held to 41 yards on 11 carries for Alabama (5-1, 2-1).

Greg McElroy went 27-of-34 passing for 315 yards and two scores in the Crimson Tide's first setback of the year.
