NBA: Minnesota 111, Los Angeles Lakers 92

LONDON, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- Martell Webster and Michael Beasley combined for 45 points Monday and Minnesota upended the Los Angeles Lakers 111-92 in the pre-season opener for both teams.

The exhibition was played in London and marked the first on-court action for the Lakers since winning last season's NBA Championship.

Webster pumped in 24 points and Beasley added 21 for the Timberwolves, who shot 54.1 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from 3-point territory.

Kevin Love chipped in 11 points for the victors, who opened the second half with a 16-3 run to go up 71-59 in the third quarter.

Los Angeles was led by Lamar Odom, who canned 17 points.

Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant played only 6 minutes and went 0-for-3 from the field.
