SEATTLE, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- Sanna Nyassi one-timed a shot past Stefan Frei from 18 yards out Saturday to score the game-winning goal in Seattle's 3-2 victory over Toronto FC.
Toronto scored first when Dwayne De Rosario got his 13th goal of the season. Seattle tied it up in the 21st minute when Steve Zakuani scored his ninth goal and went up 2-1 5 minutes later when Blaise Nkufo headed home a Nathan Sturgis free kick for his fifth goal.
Nyassi made it 3-1 just before the hour mark.
Toronto got back within a goal 2 minutes from time when Chad Barrett headed home a cross from the left side.
The win gave Seattle (12-9-6) a nine-point advantage on Kansas City, the only team with a realistic shot at knocking it out of the top eight before the Major League Soccer Cup playoffs begin at the end of the month.
Toronto (8-12-7) faced elimination from playoff contention if San Jose were to win at Columbus and Colorado were to beat D.C. United later in the day.
