ST. LOUIS, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- Ryan Spilborghs bobbled Matt Holliday's 11th-inning single, allowing the winning run to score in the St. Louis Cardinals' 1-0 victory over Colorado Saturday.
A marathon scoreless pitcher's duel had stretched into the bottom of the 11th when Pedro Feliz and Colby Rasmus drew lead-off walks from Franklin Morales (0-4).
Holliday then lined a one-hop hit to right fielder Spilborghs, who couldn't handle the ball cleanly. Feliz headed toward home and easily beat Spilborgh's throw, handing St. Louis its third win a four-game, season-closing set at Busch Stadium.
Cards starter Kyle Lohse tossed seven innings of shutout ball, allowing three hits, walking four and striking out five.
The victory went to Jason Motte (4-2), who pitched a scoreless top of the 11th.
The Rockies' Ubaldo Jimenez fell short in his final bid for a 20th victory, finishing the year at 19-8. He hurled eight shutout innings, walking two and fanning 10.
