Fines for rough play in Giants-Titans game

NEW YORK, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Tennessee cornerback Cortland Finnegan was one of five players fined by the NFL Friday for violent play during last week's Titans-New York Giants game.

Finnegan grabbed New York receiver Steve Smith by the helmet and threw him to the ground. Tennessee defensive end Jason Babin was fined because of a late hit while leading with the crown of his helmet.

Both fines were for $5,000.

Three New York players were also fined -- linemen David Diehl and Kareem McKenzie $5,000 each for unnecessary roughness and Adam Koets $2,500 for a major face mask penalty and a chop block in the end zone.
