ST. LOUIS, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Rookie P.J. Walters hurled seven shutout innings and Allen Craig homered Wednesday in the St. Louis Cardinals' 4-1 victory over Pittsburgh.

Walters (2-0) scattered three hits and a walk and struck out four in his first start since June 1. The right-hander threw 80 pitches, 50 of them for strikes.

Craig's solo blast in the fourth inning broke a scoreless tie, helping the Cardinals take the rubber match of a three-game series with Pittsburgh.

Aaron Miles, Brian Anderson and Tyler Greene added RBI for St. Louis.

James McDonald (4-6) took the loss for the Pirates, despite yielding only one run on five hits over six frames.

Neil Walker drove in Pittsburgh's only run with a ninth-inning sacrifice fly.
