Woods seems all business at Ryder Cup

NEWPORT, Wales, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- U.S. golfer Tiger Woods was all business at a pre-Ryder Cup press conference Tuesday in Wales, saying he was ready to have a good tournament.

Woods, facing reporters at the Celtic Manor resort, said he had been working on his swing with new instructor Sean Foley and tersely deflected questions about his personal life and other queries seemingly meant to stir controversy, Sports Illustrated reported.

Woods indicated he was learning from Foley.

"I have an understanding of what he was trying to teach, and now it's just a matter of getting reps," Woods said. "The biggest thing is understanding the fixes. Out on the course today, I hit some bad ones, but I automatically knew what the fix was."

He also gave a brief response when asked about European Ryder Cup member Rory McIlroy, who said after Woods had struggled earlier this year that he "would love to face" him in singles.

"Me, too," Woods responded.

When asked if he wanted to elaborate, Woods answered, "No," SI reported.
