ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Sept. 26 (UPI) -- Back-up quarterback Charlie Batch came up big for Pittsburgh Sunday, tossing three touchdown passes in the Steelers' 38-13 win over Tampa Bay.
The 35-year-old Batch made his first NFL start since 2007 in an appearance made necessary by injuries to both Dennis Dixon and Byron Leftwich and Ben Roethlisberger's suspension.
He didn't disappoint, completing 12-of-17 passes for 186 yards. Batch made 46- and 41-yard touchdown tosses to Mike Wallace, who hauled down three passes for 100 yards in the Steelers' win.
Pittsburgh (3-0) also got 143 yards on 19 carries from Rashard Mendenhall.
Josh Freeman connected on 20-of-31 passes for 184 yards for the Buccaneers (2-1), but had a pass picked off and returned 79 yards for a touchdown by lineman Brett Keisel.
