MLB: Seattle 6, Tampa Bay 2

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Sept. 26 (UPI) -- Josh Wilson smacked a three-run homer and Jose Lopez drove in a pair of runs Sunday in the Seattle Mariners' 6-2 victory over Tampa Bay.

Matt Mangini added an RBI and scored a run for Seattle, which avoided a three-game sweep at the hands of the Rays and snapped a three-game losing streak.

Luke French (5-6) collected the victory, surrendering two runs on eight hits over five-plus innings of work.

Rays starter James Shields (13-14) was tagged for five runs on eight hits over six innings and Desmond Jennings and B.J. Upton drove in a run each in the loss.

Tampa Bay held a 1 1/2-game lead over the second-place New York Yankees in the American League East coming into the contest.
