KANSAS CITY, Kan., Sept. 25 (UPI) -- Milton Rodriguez's goal in the 12th minute was the game-winner Saturday as FC Dallas extended its unbeaten run to 17 games with a 3-1 win over Kansas City.
The Hoops (11-2-13) went up 1-0 inside 5 minutes when David Ferreira played a ball over the defense to Marvin Chavez, who one-timed the shot past Wizards goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen for his first goal this season.
Rodriguez then got his goal when Atiba Harris back-heeled the ball to him as Harris was taken down by a pair of defenders. Rodriguez then fired home for his third goal of the season.
Kansas City's Ryan Smith made it 2-1 in the 57th minute with a shot from the right side of the area, but Jeff Cunningham's 10th goal of the season 8 minutes from time put the game out of reach. The Wizards are now 9-10-6.
Cunningham's 131 career Major League Soccer goals leaves him just one away from Jaime Moreno for the league's all-time goal-scoring record.
