MLB: San Francisco 1, Chicago Cubs 0

CHICAGO, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Matt Cain gave up two hits over six innings and Buster Posey drove in the only run Tuesday in the San Francisco Giants' 1-0 win over the Chicago Cubs.

Ramon Ramirez (1-3) was credited with the win for his scoreless seventh inning and Brian Wilson handled the ninth for his 44th save.

The win was the fourth in the past six games for the Giants, who came into the game with a 1/2 game lead over second-place San Diego and a 1 1/2 game lead over third-place Colorado in the National League West.

Carlos Zambrano turned in a solid six shutout innings, giving up three hits and walking five while striking out eight. He was replaced by Andrew Cashner (2-6) who served up a home run pitch to Posey in the eighth inning.

San Francisco collected a total of five hits in the game.
