San Diego's win was marred, however, when rookie running back Ryan Mathews injured his right ankle in the first quarter.

The Chargers' defense collected four interceptions off Jaguars quarterback David Garrard. He ended up completing 15-of-23 passes for 173 yards and a touchdown for the Jaguars (1-1).

He was benched in the fourth quarter and Luke McCown entered the game, going 11-of-19 for 120 yards.
