Lara edges Lynn in Austria Open playoff

ATZENBRUGG, Austria, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Jose Manuel Lara's two-putt par on the first playoff hole Sunday was good enough to defeat David Lynn at the Austrian Open.

Lara charged back from four strokes off the pace to shoot an 8-under 64 and force a playoff with third round co-leader Lynn at 17-under 271.

Lynn (4-under 68) and Lara returned to the 18th hole at Diamond Country Club for the playoff. Lynn stumbled to a bogey after trying to recover from a drive that found the right rough.

Lara, meanwhile, just missed a birdie putt, settling for a tournament-winning par.

It was the second victory on the European Tour for the 33-year-old Lara.

Danny Willet (71), Graeme McDowell (69) and Alexander Noren (68) finished in a three-way tie for third place at minus-14.
