QUEBEC CITY, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- American Alexa Glatch, who recorded her first WTA Tour victory of the year this week, won another match Thursday at the Bell Challenge.

Glatch reached the quarterfinals of a tour event for the second time in her five-year career with a 7-6, 6-2 decision over Stephanie Dubois.

This is the fourth tournament appearance of the year for Glatch, who qualified for the event, and the first time she has advanced past the first round. She posted a 6-4, 6-2 win over Sabine Lisicki to get past the first round of this tournament and her quarterfinal opponent will be fellow-American Christina McHale.

McHale advanced Thursday with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Valerie Tetreault.

The other second-round matches Thursday saw Sofia Arvidsson defeat Mirjana Lucic 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 and Tamira Paszek get past Jill Craybas 6-3, 6-2.

In the quarterfinals scheduled for Friday, Melanie Oudin will face Lucie Safarova and Bethanie Mattek-Sands will meet Rebecca Marino, who eliminated top-seeded Marion Bartoli in their second-round confrontation Wednesday.
