VIRGINIA WATER, England, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- European Tour winner Martin Kaymer inched up one spot and PGA Tour titlist Dustin Johnson jumped nearly into the Top 10 of the world rankings, updated Monday.

Kaymer won the European Tour's KLM Open by three strokes Sunday and improved his world ranking from sixth to fifth. All of the other top players, except for the injured Lee Westwood, competed in the BMW Championship, which Johnson won, allowing his ranking to go from 24th to 12th.

Kaymer made a big rankings move a few weeks ago after his playoff win at the PGA Championship. Johnson appeared to have tied Kaymer and make that playoff but was penalized two strokes for grounding his club in a bunker.

Johnson is close behind No. 11 Ernie Els, who is virtually tied with No. 10-ranked Matt Kuchar. Those two switched places in this week's ranking.

Tiger Woods is still No. 1 in the world but didn't qualify for the Tour Championship, which begins Thursday. It's another chance for No. 2 Phil Mickelson to catch Woods for the top spot. Westwood is third and Steve Stricker is fourth as the very top of the rankings remained unchanged from last week.

Kaymer's move to fifth dropped Jim Furyk to sixth. Paul Casey, who finished second to Johnson at the BMW, moved from ninth to seventh, knocking Rory McIlroy and Luke Donald each down one place to eighth and ninth, respectively.
