DENVER, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- Jason Giambi connected for a pinch-hit homer in the bottom of the ninth Sunday, giving the Colorado Rockies their 10th straight win, 4-2 over Arizona.
Giambi's two-out, two-run shot off Sam Demel (1-1) came after Jonathan Herrera had reached base on second baseman Kelly Johnson's fielding error.
Ryan Spilborghs contributed a two-run pinch-hit double in the seventh for the Rockies, who are just one win short of the franchise record for consecutive victories while making a determined playoff push with their 16th win in 20 games.
The second-place Rockies moved to within 1 1/2 games of the San Diego Padres and the San Francisco Giants atop the National League West with the victory.
Huston Street (3-4) was credited with the victory after pitching a scoreless top of the ninth.
Miguel Montero had a pair of hits and an RBI for Arizona.
