CHICAGO, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- Andruw Jones blasted a pinch-hit grand slam in a big sixth inning for the Chicago White Sox, who swamped Kansas City 12-6 Sunday after trailing 6-0.
After Chicago's rough start, Paul Konerko hit a pair of two-run homers to cut the deficit to 6-4.
After tying the score with two runs in the fourth, the Sox exploded for six more in the sixth, capped by Jones's bases-loaded blast, which allowed the second-place Chisox to remain six games behind Minnesota in the American League Central.
Sergio Santos (2-0) collected the victory with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
Royals reliever Philip Humber (1-1) absorbed the loss, surrendering five hits and four runs in 2 1/3 innings.
Billy Butler and Brayan Pena each connected for three-run blasts in the first inning for Kansas City.
