MLB: LA Dodgers 4, Houston 2 (11 innings)

HOUSTON, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Jay Gibbons hit a two-run homer in the 11th inning Friday, boosting the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 4-2 victory over Houston.

Gibbons, who is seeing his first major league action in three years, played in his 24th game with the Dodgers and the home run was his fourth of the season. He hit 121 homers during a seven-year career with Baltimore that ended in 2007.

Gibbons had an RBI single in the sixth that gave the Dodgers a 2-1 lead but the Astros tied it in the seventh on a run-scoring base hit from Michael Bourn.

Bourn had a one-out triple in the 10th but was stranded when Octavio Dotel struck out both Jeff Keppinger and Hunter Pence to end the inning.

Los Angeles quickly made Houston pay for the missed opportunity. Matt Kemp reached on a single to lead off the 11th against Fernando Abad (0-1) and Gibbons followed by hitting an 0-1 pitch out to right.

Dotel (3-3) worked both the 10th and 11th innings to get the win, striking out three.
