AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Cody Johnson helped No. 4 Texas shake off a lethargic start, running for a pair of touchdowns in the Longhorns' 34-7 blowout of Wyoming.
Wyoming led 7-6 with less than 4 minutes remaining in the first half, but Foswhitt Whittaker ran for a 39-yard touchdown and Garrett Gilbert found Mike Davis with a 45-yard scoring strike before halftime to give Texas (2-0) a 20-7 lead.
Johnson added his two scores in the third quarter to put the contest out of reach.
Gilbert completed 22-of-35 passes for 222 yards and one touchdown to spark Texas to its 16th straight home win.
Austyn Carta-Samuels went 16-of-24 for 160 yards got the only touchdown for the Cowboys (1-1), who were mourning the loss of freshman linebacker Ruben Narcisse, who died in a Monday car accident.
