RICHMOND, Va., Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Kevin Harvick led for most of the race and then held off Brad Keselowski over the final laps Friday to win the Nationwide Series Virginia College Savings 250.
Harvick led for 170 of the race's 250 laps at Richmond International Raceway and did not relinquish the top spot after passing Ryan Newman on a restart with 40 laps remaining.
Keselowski came back from a lap down early in the race and made a number of attempts to pass Harvick as the race wound down. Keselowski, however, finished .256 of a second behind the winner.
Harvick won for the third time this season and captured the 37th Nationwide race of his career. Trevor Bayne finished third, the best showing of his career. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was fourth and Reed Sorenson finished fifth.
Keselowski increased his series lead to 373 points over Carl Edwards, who finished 10th.
