MLB: Houston 4, Chicago Cubs 0

CHICAGO, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Brett Myers struck out eight over seven innings Wednesday and combined with four relievers on a shutout to bring Houston a 4-0 win over the Chicago Cubs.

Myers (11-7) gave up only three hits and worked at least six innings for his 29th straight start, extending his club record. He has allowed the Cubs only four earned runs in his four starts against them this season.

Houston won for the fourth time in five games.

Humberto Quintero drove in Houston's first run with a single in the second inning and scored the last run of the game on a ground out in the sixth. Hunter Pence contributed a solo homer in the third.

Randy Wells (6-13) gave up four runs in six innings to take the loss. Chicago finished its homestand at 5-4.
