MLB: New York Mets 4, Washington 1

WASHINGTON, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Dillon Gee tossed seven innings of one-run ball in his major league debut Tuesday and the New York Mets downed Washington 4-1.

Gee (1-1), a 6-foot-1 right-hander, held the Nats to two hits, walking three and striking out four.

Pedro Feliciano and Bobby Parnell combined for a scoreless eighth and Hisanori Takahashi collected his fourth save despite allowing a pair of hits in the ninth for the Mets, who evened their three-game set with the Nationals at a win apiece.

Ike Davis bashed a three-run homer and collected two hits for the Mets.

Washington rookie Yunesky Maya (0-1) also made his major league bow in the contest. He was touched for four runs on five hits over five innings.
