MILWAUKEE, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Trevor Hoffman recorded his 600th career save Tuesday and preserved the Milwaukee Brewers' 4-2 win over St. Louis.
The veteran all-time saves leader allowed a hit in the ninth but otherwise set the Cardinals down quietly to get his ninth save of the season, in relief of Chris Narveson (11-7).
Narveson allowed two runs on four hits and struck out nine in seven innings.
Milwaukee's Casey McGehee went 3-for-4 with three RBI, including two on a base hit in the fifth inning that snapped a 2-2 tie. Prince Fielder had the other RBI for the Brewers, who had lost six of their last seven coming into the game.
Yadier Molina and Cody Rasmus each drive in a run in the two-run Cardinals' fourth that tied the game 2-2.
Kyle Lohse (2-7) took the loss. He gave up four runs on seven hits over five innings.
