Heisman Trust: No decision on Bush

NEW YORK, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- The Heisman Trophy Trust said Tuesday it is still considering whether to strip former USC star Reggie Bush of his award.

Heisman spokesman Tim Henning told the Los Angeles Times that despite reports the 2005 trophy winner would see his award voided soon, no decision had been reached.

"The Heisman Trophy Trust has yet to make a decision, and until such time they do we have no further comment," Henning told the newspaper.

Yahoo Sports!, citing unnamed sources, reported Tuesday the Trust would strip Bush of his trophy by the end of September. If so, he would become the first player ever to have the honor taken away.

The NCAA leveled harsh penalties on Southern California in June when they declared Bush ineligible dating back to the Trojans' 2004 national championship. Every USC victory Bush participated in from December 2004 through the 2005 season was vacated.

Shortly thereafter USC took down its copy of Bush's Heisman and returned it to the Trust.

Bush now plays for the Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints.
