
MILWAUKEE, Sept. 6 (UPI) -- Yadier Molina socked grand slam homer to cap a six-run eighth inning Monday, carrying the St. Louis Cardinals to an 8-6 win over Milwaukee.
Albert Pujols contributed an RBI and scored twice for St. Louis, which took the opener of a three-game series at Miller Park and won for the third time in four games.
Matt Holliday and Pedro Feliz each chipped in with an RBI and a run scored for the victors.
Reliever Mitchell Boggs (2-2) was credited with the win in relief of Jake Westbrook despite allowing a run in a 1 1/3-inning performance.
The Brewers were led by Corey Hart, who banged out a two-run homer and a solo shot. Rickie Weeks added a bases-empty homer in the Milwaukee loss.
Zach Braddock (1-2) absorbed the defeat after Brewers starter Yovani Gallardo threw seven innings, yielding two runs on four hits.
