ISTANBUL, Turkey, Sept. 6 (UPI) -- Chauncey Billups
scored 19 points, hitting 5-of-7 three-pointers, and Team USA rolled to a 121-66 rout of Angola Monday at the 2010 FIBA World Championships.
The United States made the quarterfinals thanks to the lop-sided win, in which Kevin Durant, Eric Gordon and Rudy Gay each scored 17 points.
Team USA shot 53 percent from the field and canned 18 three-pointers on 38 tries.
The American squad got nine points each from Derrick Rose and Lamar Odom and now goes on to face Russia on Thursday in the quarterfinals.
Angola was led by Joaquim Gomes with 21 points.
The American sprinted to a 33-13 lead after the opening quarter and never looked back, outscoring the opposition 30-10 over the final 10 minutes.
