SANDY, Utah, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Fabian Espindola scored early and Real Salt Lake went on to forge a 1-0 Major League Soccer victory over Red Bull New York.

Espindola's goal in the 4th minute allowed the Royals to equal the longest home undefeated streak in league history at 22 games.

Espindola scored his sixth goal of the season when he took a long pass from Kyle Beckerman, deked past central defender Tim Ream and pushed a shot past New York goalkeeper Greg Sutton.

The Red Bulls had several chances to tie the score only to be thwarted by Royals goalie Nick Rimando, including his stop of a close header by Juan Pablo Angel.

Real Salt Lake improved to 12-4-7, while New York slipped to 11-8-4.
