MIAMI, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Scott Cousins delivered a pinch-hit RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning Sunday, handing the Florida Marlins a 7-6 decision over Atlanta.
Cousins picked a good time to collect his first major league hit, scoring Emilio Bonifacio with game-winning run and giving Florida the rubber match of a three-game series at Sun Life Stadium.
The key blow was set up when Bonifacio stroked a lead-off double off Eric O'Flaherty (3-2) and went to third on an error by left fielder Melky Cabrera. Cousins was then sent in to bat for Logan Morrison, who was struck by Bonifacio's foul liner while standing in the on-deck circle.
Cousins laced a single to deep left that scored the game-winning run to down the Braves, who entered the contest with a one-game lead over second-place Philadelphia in the National League East.
Burke Badenhop (2-5) got the win after tossing a scoreless top of the 10th.
Nate McLouth drove in three runs for Atlanta.
