SAN DIEGO, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Melvin Mora's two-run, seventh-inning single snapped a tie Sunday and sent the Colorado Rockies to a 4-2 win over reeling San Diego.
Troy Tulowitzki socked a bases-empty homer and drove in another run with a groundout to help the Rockies sweep a three-game series at Petco Park and hand the first-place Padres their 10th straight loss.
San Diego came into the contest clinging to a two-game lead over San Francisco in the National League West. The Rockies, meanwhile, won for the sixth time in nine games and climbed to within 4 1/2 games of the Padres.
Jorge De La Rosa (6-4) allowed six hits and two walks over six innings, yielding only a score-tying, two-run homer to Miguel Tejada in the sixth.
Tim Stauffer (3-3) took the loss for San Diego, which is suffering its longest losing streak since a franchise-worst 13-game skid from May 8-21, 1994.
