PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Ryan Braun's errant throw from the outfield allowed the winning run to score Saturday in the Philadelphia Phillies' 5-4 victory over Milwaukee.
The Phillies loaded the bases with one out in the seventh while trailing 4-3. Placido Polanco hit a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Carlos Ruiz with the tying run.
But Braun's throw home bounced and rolled past catcher Jonathan Lucroy, allowing Wilson Valdez to score all the way from second for a 5-4 edge.
Roy Halladay (17-10) got the win despite yielding a career-high four homers. He allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks, striking out six.
The Phillies got solo homers from Ryan Howard and Jayson Werth to take their fifth straight win and remain one game behind Atlanta in the National League East.
Corey Hart socked two homers while Prince Fielder and Alcides Escobar also went deep for the Brewers. Kameron Loe (3-4) allowed both runs in the seventh to take the loss.
