OAKLAND, Calif., Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Trevor Cahill overcame wildness to hurl six scoreless innings Saturday and the Oakland Athletics edged the Los Angeles Angels 3-1.

Cahill (15-6) gave up a career-high six walks. But he limited the Angels to four hits to go with four strikeouts as the Athletics clinched a three-game series win at Oakland Coliseum.

The A's offense consisted of RBI by Mark Ellis, Cliff Pennington and Jack Cust.

The Angels, who have lost nine of their last 12 games, got a solo homer from Torii Hunter.

Los Angeles starter Jered Weaver (11-11) surrendered three runs on six hits over seven innings and sustained his fourth straight loss.
